What is a Mini page layout or related list?

The console provides a list view and related records into one screen.  This allows users to access information across multiple records and multiple object types on one screen without the use of VisualForce pages, custom formulas, or any other code.

You cannot define mini page layouts for the Close Case Layout or the Log a Case Page and View Cases Page layouts on the Self-Service  Portal.

You can define mini page layouts for the user object; however, you cannot add standard fields or related lists. Also, a customized mini page layout will not display in the console.
