PM Modi holds bilateral meeting with African leaders
1.Prime Minister Narendra Modi to held bilateral meetings with African leaders on the sidelines of the ongoing Third India-Africa Forum Summit (IAFS).
2.“A start to Prime Minister’s bilateral meetings with Zimbabwe. PM with IAFS co-chair His Excellency Robert Mugabe at Hyderabad House,” spokesperson of External Affairs Ministry Vikas Swarup tweeted.
3.Mr. Modi is scheduled to meet 20 African leaders for bilateral meetings.
India’s Economy to Grow at 7.5% in FY’16
1.India Ratings on Thursday revised downwards to 7.5 per cent the GDP growth forecast, from earlier estimate of 7.7 per cent, for the current financial year because of weak agricultural growth.
2.It expects agricultural growth to expand 0.9 per cent this fiscal from 0.2 per cent of FY15.
3.The encouraging part is the sowing of kharif crop for 2015. The total area sown under kharif crops till October 16, 2015 reached 103.88 million hectares from 102.66 million hectares for the same period in 2014.
Power Mech Bags Rs 60 Crore Order from Lanco Infratech
1.”The company has received Letter of Intents (LoIs) from Lanco Infratech Limited in relation to a 660 MW Supercritical Ennore Thermal
Power Station Expansion Project at Ennore, Chennai, Tamil Nadu,” Power Mech Projects Ltd said in a BSE filing.
2.According to the statement, first LoI is for erection, testing & commissioning and providing assistance for PG test for boiler – A&B Package worth Rs 50.96 crore.
3.The second work relates to erection, testing and commissioning and providing assistance for PG test for electro static precipitator (ESP) package worth Rs 8.87 crore.
PM Modi to Flag Off ‘Run for Unity’ on Vallabhbhai Patel’s Birth Anniversary
1.Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off ‘run for unity’ on Saturday at Rajpath in New Delhi on the occasion of 140th birth anniversary of country’s first Home Minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
2.The Prime Minister had last year dedicated the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, also known as ‘Iron Man of India’, as ‘National Unity Day’.
IBM Signs MoU to Provide Cloud Tech to Telangana Engineering Colleges
1.Global technology giant IBM and the Telangana Academy for Skill and Knowledge (TASK) have signed an MoU for provision of technology platforms and services in cloud computing for academia in Telangana.
2.Officials of TASK and IBM India Private Ltd., signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) here in the presence of state Information Technology Minister K. Tarakarama Rao.
3.IBM and TASK have agreed to collaborate in bringing the IBM cloud experience to the engineering colleges in the state, an official statement said.
PM Modi 10th most admired personality globally, Mahatma Gandhi 4th: WEF survey
1.Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the 10th most admired personality globally, as per a new survey by the World Economic Forum (WEF) that has ranked late South African President Nelson Mandela on the top.
2.Mahatma Gandhi is ranked fourth most admired leader, according to a survey of more than 1,000 millennials. The respondents were spread across 285 cities in 125 countries.
3.Others in the list are Tesla Motors’ CEO Elon Musk (3rd rank), Microsoft Founder Bill Gates (5), US President Barack Obama (6th), Virgin Group Founder Richard Barson (7), Apple Founder Steve Jobs (8), Nobel laureate Mohammad Yunus (9) and US investor Warren Buffett (11)
