United Airlines Names Brett Hart as Acting CEO
1.United Continental Holdings Inc on Monday said it appointed an interim leader four days after chief executive officer Oscar Munoz suffered a heart attack, raising uncertainty about whether its top official would return.
2.The airline said its general counsel Brett Hart, 46, would take on the role of acting chief executive officer, effective immediately. It said it is too soon to know the course of treatment Mr Munoz will take or the timing of his recovery.

Google Takes Stake in $300 Million China Start-Up Mobvoi
1.Google will take a minority stake in Beijing-based artificial intelligence firm Mobvoi as part of a $75 million fundraising round, the start-up as the US search giant tries to rebuild its presence in China.
2.Mobvoi works on artificial intelligence (AI) voice-controlled software, like that used in Google’s Android products for mobile search, and also develops hardware like smart watches. Google’s parent company is now named Alphabet Inc.
3.The Google-led Series C fundraising values Mobvoi at $300 million, with the start-up maintaining a controlling stake, said co-founder Li Yuanyuan in a telephone interview. The size of the US firm’s investment was not disclosed by Li or in Mobvoi’s e-mailed statement .
Veteran Filmmaker K S L Swamy Dies at 77
1.Renowned Kannada filmmaker Kikkeri Shamanna Lakshminarayana Swamy breathed his last on Tuesday. He was 77. According to a family source, Mr Swamy died at his residence on Tuesday.
2.Mr Swamy began his cinematic journey as an assistant to legendary filmmakers such as G V Iyer and M R Vittal. In 1966, he made his debut as director with Kannada film Thoogudeepa.
3.His other popular films include Lagna Pathrike, Gandhinagara, Driver Hanumantha and Huli Hejje.
4.He’s a recipient of National Award and is a Padma Bhushan awardee as well.
5.He is survived by his wife and noted actor B V Radha and daughter Dhanalakshmi.
Food on Wheels: An Initiative that Promotes Food Safety with Women Empowerment
1.Streets in major cities of Kerala will soon be dotted with ‘food trucks’, providing healthy, hygienic and delicious dishes, thanks to ‘Food on Wheels’, an innovative initiative drawn up by Gender Park, a state-owned autonomous institution.
2.After the success of its acclaimed ‘She-Taxi’ project, the Gender Park, under the Department of Social Justice, is now set to launch the ‘Food on Wheels’ programme, which is envisaged to achieve food safety along with women empowerment. Under the initiative, around 2500 women entrepreneurs will serve high quality food at cheap rates through mobile food units, which will be stationed nearby schools, colleges and government offices, Gender Park CEO Dr PTM Sunish told.
